Frequently Asked Questions

If you aren’t able to find the information you need here, please feel free to call the church office at 912-232-0191.

Where am I supposed to park?

The parking lot on the corner of Drayton and Gordon Streets belongs to WMUMC. There are also parking spaces belonging to the church on Wayne Street between the Sanctuary and Oliver Hall. Handicapped parking is in front of the church. A map is available with further details.

On Sunday mornings only, service attendees are welcome to park around Taylor Square along the yellow line. (Please do not block the crosswalks or park on the corners of the square.) Also, all metered parking spaces are free on Sundays.

How do I get in the church building?

On Sunday mornings, the front doors facing the square are always open. Additionally, there are two entrances on the street level underneath the awnings on Gordon Street and Wayne Street. The Gordon Street entrance includes an elevator with access to all floors, including the Sanctuary on the second floor.

All church buildings are locked during the week. Should you need access at any time, please press the doorbell which will ring the Church Office.

How can I join the church?

New Members classes take place on the second and third Sundays of the month during the Sunday School hour. The group meets in the Oliver Hall library on the second floor. If you have questions or would like to sign up, please contact Rev. Nelle Bordeaux at 912-232-0191.

Do I have to wait to join a Sunday School class?

No! Sunday School classes are open to new attendees at any time throughout the year. Please feel free to attend several different classes before settling on one that best fits what you are looking for.

Is there a place for my kids at Wesley Monumental?

Absolutely! Our children’s ministry at Wesley Monumental is a thriving environment for all children ages eight weeks through fifth grade. We have many Sunday School classes for all children, Children’s Worship during both Worship Services for children through third grade, and many special events such as an Easter egg hunt, Vacation Bible School, and Summer Fun Daze throughout the year. What’s a Circle?

The United Methodist Women gather regularly, and many are a part of a women’s group, or a “Circle.” Wesley Monumental has many different Circles for women of all ages and stages. To learn more about the various Circles at Wesley Monumental and when they meet, please call the Church Office at 912-232-0191.

What’s with the long line of cars on weekdays?

Wesley Monumental’s preschool and early childhood center, Eli’s Place, is hosted in the Education Building on our main campus at Abercorn Street. A car line forms at drop off and pickup times year-round. These cars often have their hazard lights on as they wait to indicate that they are dropping off or picking up. They also keep to the right to allow traffic to move around them as needed. The Eli’s Place car line is very efficient and moves quickly! Thank you for your patience.

What is Wesley Gardens?

Wesley Gardens is our retreat center located on Burnside Island. It sits on a forty-acre tract of land facing Moon River. You can learn more about Wesley Gardens and all of the wonderful ways to enjoy it on the Wesley Gardens website.
