Due to limited seating because of COVID restrictions and the popularity of this service, both services are full, and we are no longer taking reservations. However, both services will be livestreamed and can be enjoyed online. While we are not happy about having to limit attendance to a Sunday worship service, we feel it is important to do everything we can to make the event as safe as possible. We ask your understanding for our commitment to your health and some of the restrictions that brings on our activities. As we look towards Christmas Eve, we are planning to have five services that day instead of our normal three to accommodate all the people we can. We will send out more details soon. Below is the description of this popular service. We hope that you will plan to join us that day, via live stream, for these very special services.
On Sunday, December 13, our worship experience during both Services will be our annual Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols featuring chamber choir, brass quintet, pipe organ, and timpani. The Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols is a Service of Christian worship celebrating the birth of Jesus that is traditionally followed at Christmas. The story of the fall of humanity, the promise of the Messiah, and the birth of Jesus as told in nine short Bible readings from Genesis, the prophetic books and the Gospels, interspersed with choral music. For your safety, the chamber choir will sing all carols in lieu of congregational singing.
Since July 2020, our choir has been rehearsing Advent and Christmas music in the Sanctuary in socially-distanced, alternating groups of 16-20 choristers each with zero total coronavirus infections. The choir has worked hard to find a way to offer this beloved annual tradition to our community in the safest way possible.
Thanks to a generous donor, Wesley Monumental has GPS (Global Plasma Solutions) installed throughout the campus, including in the Sanctuary. The needlepoint bipolar ionization system technology reduces airborne particles and attacks and kills viruses, mold spores, and bacteria. GPS ionization testing results demonstrated a 99.4% reduction rate on a SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) surface strain within 30 minutes.
