The Bible explains the concept of a “tithe” as a tenth of all that a person has. It first appears in the Bible in Genesis 14:20, when Abraham gave the tithe, and it became law in Leviticus 27:30-32. As a New Year twist on this Bible idea, the Mission Committee asks you to pray about giving one-tenth of your time in service to others in need. This idea is not intended to be legalistic but rather a joyful and deliberate way for us to serve. An example might
be that you call a friend who has not been in worship lately or you might help rake the yard for an elderly neighbor or you might help at the next homeless breakfast or Urban Hope or Family Promise event. Children and youth as well as adults are welcome to participate! Please call Nelle Bordeaux , 912-234-9245, if you need more information.
