Children’s bulletins with activities related to the scripture of the day are provided at both Sunday morning worship services. Following the children’s sermon, children age 3 – kindergarten are dismissed for children’s church, which meets in rooms 201(ages 3 & 4) and 206 (ages 5 and 6). Adult leadership rotates weekly. A worship education program is held for first graders. They learn the Apostles’ Creed, the Lord’s Prayer, how to use a hymnal, how to follow an order of service, about the seasons of the church year, and about the sacrament of baptism and communion. After this training they are encouraged to remain with their parents for the entire worship service. Acolytes are trained each fall and assist with worship on a rotating schedule from third through seventh grade. Children occasionally participate in worship by reading scripture or singing in one of two children’s choirs. |
