April 24, 2011 8:45 and 11:00 AM
Made like him, like him we rise, alleluia! Ours the Cross, the grave, the skies, alleluia! - Charles Wesley
The Christian faith begins with Easter, with bewildered disciples finding an empty tomb and hearing the Good News: He is Risen! Even today, Easter is at the center of the Christian faith. It shapes all our life and worship – some have called every Sunday morning a “little Easter.” Nevertheless, there is something special about this day!
Come join us as we hear the Gospel proclaimed in word, song, and ritual! Easter calls forth our most extravagant worship and praise. Service times are at 8:45 and 11:00 a.m. (Pre-service music begins at 8:25 and 10:40 a.m.) Both services this year are identical and will include a full choir, Savannah Brass Quintet, children's sermon and children's church.
Each service will begin with a full processional of our choir, pastors, and the Paschal candle that represents the presence of the Risen Christ among us. Each service concludes with a powerful performance of Handel’s “Hallelujah Chorus” from the Messiah.
Attendance at the 11:00 service is almost always at capacity; please plan to arrive extra early for that service, or plan to attend the earlier service at 8:45.
