December 24th 3 Services: 10:30 a.m., 4:00 p.m., & 6:00 P.M.
“Hark! the herald angels sing, “Glory to the newborn King; peace on earth, and mercy mild, God and sinners reconciled!” -Charles Wesley
Join with us as we celebrate the gift of God’s Son, Jesus Christ! On Christmas Eve, we remember the birth of the Christ-child in Bethlehem by gathering to receive the sacrament of Holy Communion. As we welcome Christ into the world anew on Christmas, we welcome Christ’s transforming power into our lives by coming to the Lord’s Table. We offer two Communion services on Christmas Eve.
The 10:30 AM service is the smaller and simpler of the services. We sing the great Christmas hymns of the church, with music provided by Mrs. Monica Harper on our organ and piano. Rev. Creede Hinshaw offers a Christmas meditation before we gather around the Table for the sacrament.
At 4:00 PM we'll have a child-friendly service including a live Nativity pageant and music from our children's choirs. This service will be approximately 45 minutes long, and Communion will be served.
Our 6:00 PM Communion service is a truly beautiful event. It begin swith “Carols by Candlelight” as we gather to the music of the Christmas season. At 6:30, the service itself begins. This service includes all the elements of the earlier service, but adds the beauty of our full choir and guest musicians. It also includes a stirring time of worship by candlelight, symbolizing the coming of the Light of Christ into the darkened world. Attendance at this service tends to be at or very near capacity every year; please make plans to arrive early!
