Music is one of the most beautiful and meaningful ways in which to praise the living God. Writers of both the Old and New Testaments have encouraged us to “Make a joyful noise to the Lord,” to “Speak to one another with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs,” to “Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord,” and to “Play skillfully and sing for joy!” Music is a very important ingredient in United Methodist worship, particularly, congregational singing. Savannahians enjoy quite a rich heritage of hymnody, reaching back to Georgia’s eighteenth century colonial days of John and Charles Wesley, followed by Lowell Mason in the nineteenth century, and later, Frances Bland Tucker in the twentieth century. Whether you choose to sing in a choir, play in an instrumental group, raise your voice in congregational song, or attend one of our special musical services or concerts, the Music Ministry of Wesley Monumental Church seeks to minister to you in a powerful way, and to assist you as your grow in your faith and a closer relationship with God.
