| Monumental Music Concert Series |
|
Founded in 1992, our concert series serves as an artistic outreach to the community, enabling us to present extended works which may not fit within the time constraints of Sunday worship, as well as featuring invited special guests to perform in the beautiful acoustical environment of our sanctuary. Since its inception, Monumental Music has featured the Wesley Chancel Choir in Mozart’s C minor Mass, Rutter’s Requiem, Faure’s Requiem, Britten’s A Ceremony of Carols, Schubert’s Masses in G major and B-flat major, and Haydn’s Missa Brevis in B-flat major, to name a few. Special invited guests have included The Westminster Choir under the direction of Joseph Flummerfelt, The American Boychoir, Quink—the five-voice vocal ensemble from The Netherlands, The Borealis Wind Ensemble, Classical guitarist Michael Nigro, organists, Joan Lippincott and Craig Cramer, and concert pianists, Louise Barfield, Ruskin Cooper and Thomas Purviance, performing on the church’s Steinway concert grand.
