Each week, Wesley Monumental welcomes visitors from Savannah and around the world to worship with us. We also regularly host events of interest to the Savannah community. These are just some of the ways that we extend the love of Jesus Christ to others through acts of hospitality.
Bread Ministry
On Sunday afternoon, members of Wesley Monumental fan out to visit our local first-time-guests in morning worship. They take with them a love for Christ, information about Wesley Monumental, and a loaf of home-made bread. Those who participate in our Bread Ministry are often the first contact guests have with our congregation outside of worship, and we repeatedly hear stories about how meaningful these visits are. Our Bread Ministry is made up of these visiting teams and the dedicated individuals who prepare the bread itself. Both groups serve on a rotating basis: delivery teams on a 5 week rotation, and bread bakers on a monthly rotation. If you would like to get involved in this ministry, please contact Rev. Alex Tracy.
Ushers
Our ushers serve many roles on Sunday morning: they distribute the order of worship for the morning, help people find seats, receive our morning offering, and help to direct people to the altar rail on Communion Sundays. With our greeters (see below), they are often the first faces guests encounter when they enter the doors of Wesley Monumental. Ushers serve on a rotating basis. Training is offered one to two times a year for those who are interested in joining this important group. For more information, please contact the church office.
Greeters
Each Sunday morning a number of greeters are by our doors and circulating around our sanctuary, identifying guests and making them feel welcome. These volunteers pledge to be present in worship and to extend to our guests the hand of Christian hospitality. For more information on how you can be a welcoming presence, please contact the church office.
Hospitality Teams
When Wesley Monumental hosts special events for the community, our hospitality teams are often there to provide a welcoming presence. From manning doors to helping visitors find the restrooms, this group of volunteers helps events run smoothly. To get involved, please contact the church office at (912) 232-0191 or Mr. Richard Glendinning.
Docents
Every day, tour trolleys pass by Wesley Monumental, pointing out our historic sanctuary and beautiful architecture. Docents are available on Friday mornings and after our Sunday worship services to provide information to guests and tourists about our sanctuary and the history of this congregation. If you have a love for the traditions and history of this church and would like to share them with others, please contact the church office at (912) 232-0191 for more information and to become involved in this ministry.
